Ruby City is a large city in an alternative America, one ruled by one of the major powers of the world, the vampires. It is a melting pot of species, an epicenter of trade and business- and the big money comes from the slavery industry. Established long ago when the species had their first big war, the first slaves were POWs of the weaker species, yet in the years that followed you can find any species in bondage somewhere on the planet. Slaves are not considered as people, merely possessions- there are no rights for them, no laws to protect them. They belong to those who buy them, to be used for any purpose that their masters desire.
Not all agree with such ways, however- there is a terrorist cell called CRUX that aims to disrupt the uneasy stalemate that has fallen over the world, pit species against species and wipe out the survivors to rule the world. Their aim is to abolish slavery, but their tactics are dirty- creatures created through a mix of magic and science, the Zavyl, make up the backbone of CRUX, taking care of those who might threaten their plans. Black-mail, assassinations, CRUX will stop at nothing but global domination.
It is the year 2021, five years since the end of the Guerre-Sylph War. The five major powers of the world are still recovering from the ten-year war, and the peacetime is expected to last for a while yet. You are just another face in Ruby City, but what is your place? A master living in the lap of luxury, or a slave fresh from the sale pens? A CRUX freedom fighter, or a figurehead of your species’ power?
