Damon had been getting restless. For one thing, he had been trying to refrain from drinking human blood- not out of any sense of guilt, but for practical reasons. That dreaded weapon was never vary far from Damon's mind. Though supposedly it was useless now, that cunning bitch Bonnie Bennett- damn all witches! might have found a way to repair it. It would be better if people thought all the vampires of Mystic Falls were dead.
The smart thing to do would be to leave Mystic Falls. But Damon had found that the same thing which bound his brother here was binding him here- Elena. Well, yes, and perhaps Katherine, too.
Speaking of dark-haired, dark-eyed beauties, I should go see her. That will give me something to do for a while. Damon knew that Elena would probably claim she wanted nothing to do with him, but he didn't care. There were two reasons why: one, Damon only cared about what Damon wanted, and two, Damon was sure that Elena was lying to herself.
In a few seconds, Damon was over at Elena's house. He knocked on the door, and a delighted Aunt Jenna let him in.
"Is Elena here yet?" he asked, looking around.
"Oh, no. She's still at school. But make yourself comfortable."
"Are you sure? If it's any trouble-"
But Jenna had insisted, as Damon had known she would. He was an excellent judge of character after all. And from Aunt Jenna he sensed a deep loneliness. But like Elena, there was also strength.
And beauty. Damon idly wondered if Elena would consent to a threesome with her aunt. Nope. That was proof that Elena was truly nothing like Katherine. Katherine was about as depraved as they came. Enter exhibit A, two Salvatore brothers. Damon suspected Katherine would have loved to sleep with both of them if she thought that both of them would consent to it.
Okay, maybe he could understand Elena's prudishness a bit. But only a bit.
Damon and Jenna sat down on a sofa and made small talk for a while. Jenna mentioned she was happy that Elena had found someone like Stefan to make her happy.
Damon forced a very convincing-looking grin. "Yes, and I'm glad Stefan has found her. His last break-up, well, he took it hard. Seemed like it took an eternity to get over her."
He heard the door slam shut and glanced behind him, hoping it was his favorite member of the Gilbert family.

Elena sat in her last class of the day staring at the clock, just a few more minutes. She loved school, but today just seemed to drag on and at that moment she wanted to go home and take a nap, which wasn't like her. But she hadn't slept that well the night before. She swore that something kept taping on her window but when she'd get up to check nothing was there and there was no wind to cause anything to hit it. Maybe it had all been a dream. Finally the bell rang, she gathered her stuff and immediately headed out to her car.
The one to enter the house was Elena. She closed the door behind not meaning for it to slam shut. She stood there setting her school stuff down by the stairs. She didn't know that Damon was there until she turned around toward the living room. "Hey Jenna... Damon." she said trying not to sound to annoyed. Damon was there sitting on the sofa with Aunt Jenna. She hated Damon very much because he'd tried to kill her little brother. And then… deep inside she still cared about him? She had some sort of feeling for him but was confused as to what those feelings were. She knew there was good in him, she'd seen it. It shouldn't be possible to hate someone, and then at the same time care about the person, right? Well, she did, but she had no explanation on it.
Elena stood in the entrance way of the living room, "What's up?" as asked looking from Damon to Jenna. She wondered what he was doing there. Did it have something to do with the moonstone or was he there just to torment her? Oh well, better her then Bonnie. Poor Bonnie, the only time she saw Damon was when he needed her to do something and as of lately, it seemed like everyday he needed something from her. Sometimes she wished he'd go find himself another witch to help deal with the vampire situation. She was afraid for her friend, what if it was to much for her, just like it was to much for her grams.
Elena removed her jacket and finally entered the living room and sat on the edge of the sofa across from her aunt and Damon.

Damon looked up with a satisfied smile as Elena came inside. That smile, combined with his presence in her home, gave the same message it always did: yeah, I'm inside your house. What are you going to do about it?
There was nothing she could do. Maybe Bonnie could work something, but he had never felt a barrier when he entered the house- and that told him that one of two things was true- either Bonnie didn't know of a way to recreate a dwelling's barrier against vampires, or Elena had never asked her to look into the matter. He preferred the latter explanation- it was much more amusing.
Damon's smile widened slightly at the slight hitch in Elena's voice. She hadn't tried to let Jenna know she didn't want him in the house- either she had been lying about not feeling anything for him or she knew that he could kill every member of her family if she troubled him.
Of course, Stefan would know who had done it, the sheriff would get suspicious again...nah, it was best to let them all live. He had been rash to kill Jeremy.
"Elena. How are you doing." He adopted a look of mock seriousness. "You haven't been flirting with my little brother in history class, have you? I don't think he can focus on school when you're in the room." He adopted a look of despair as he looked at Aunt Jenna. She was unable to restrain a giggle. Only Elena, of course, got the true joke- Stefan really didn't need to pass history, even though he would surely ace the class. Damon loved making fun of his brother's attempts to pretend to be a normal high school student.

Elena knew what that smile meant and what she wanted to do was reach over and slap it off, but she refrained from doing so. Since Damon had "killed" Jeremy, Elena really didnt want him around her family or even the house. But it was difficult keeping Damon away because Jeremy kept involving himself in everything and well, Damon had been invited in. Elena hadnt even thought of asking Bonnie to put up some sort of barrier to prevent Damon from coming in. Truth was, deep down whether she'd admit it or not, she didnt want him to stop coming around.
"I'm doing just great Damon." The sarcasism in her voice was very evident. "Actually, I didnt see Stefan at school today. Being his brother I thought you would have known he wasnt there today." Damon put on a show for Jenna, he didnt really care about Stefan's schooling, infact he often made fun of Stefan going to school and trying to be a normal person.
Elena stood up coming up with an excuse to leave the room. "Its was good to see Damon, but you'll have to excuse me. I have some school work to get done. Jenna I'll be in my room if you need me." Later Jenna would probably ask why she'd been so rude to Damon. Elena headed to the stairs picking up her bag.
She reached the top of the stairs, immediately going to her room. Elena dropped her bag by the door and went to sit on her bed. She sat there waiting to see what Damon would do. She knew Damon would probably claim that he needed to talk to her about something and follow her to her room, or he'd probably 'leave' and come back in through her window

Damon rose an eyebrow at Elena's mention that Damon wasn't in school today. Hope he isn't reverting to the homo sapien diet again. Stefan had a tendency to go off the deep end when he switched off vegan Stefan. Plus, Stefan feeding on human blood made Stefan as strong as Damon- which was something Damon did not like.
It was probably something less serious than that, though. Probably nothing to be worried about- but Stefan wasn't the type to skip school. It wasn't like he had friends at school to enjoy the experience with.
"Hmmm," Damon said. "I didn't see him at the mansion earlier this morning. I thought he'd left early for school." He shrugged his shoulders. He'd figure it out eventually.
Aunt Jenna opened her mouth, possibly to reprimand Elena for her rudeness. Damon waved a hand in indifference. He could only threaten Elena so much and get away with it. "I've got some work to do myself," he said, "mostly at the mansion." Jenna would likely assume he meant job-related stuff, and Elena could fret about what he might actually mean by that. "Lovely to see you as always, Aunt Jenna."
"You're always welcome here," Aunt Jenna promised him, and Damon gave Elena a triumphant wink. Not that he needed a second invitation.
Damon left, but doubled back behind the Gilbert house. He called a crow to his command as he saw Elena go upstairs to her bedroom. The crow smacked into Elena's window. "Damon!" it croaked, echoing the words on Damon's lips. Damon laughed, debating whether or not to actually leap up on Elena's windowsill. How far could he push Elena?

Elena was now quite worried about Stefan. He hadn't texted that morning like he usually did, he was a no show at school, and Damon didn't know where he was either. She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly, she refused to jump to conclusions on what Stefan was up too. She just hoped that he was in any danger.
The sounds of Jenna and Damon's conversation drifted up to her bedroom at the volume of a whisper, just loud enough for Elena's ears to catch certain things. 'Aunt Jenna' was something that particularly made her twitch. With a roll of her eyes, the girl threw her body back onto her bed and grabbed a pillow, covering her face for a few moments.
Elena was startled by something crashing into her window. When she removed the pillow from her face and looked, a crow was perched on the windowsill and croaked, "Damon." Elena shook her head, she had forgotten Damon could manipulate crows. She got off the bed and crossed the bedroom to the window and looked out seeing Damon standing below, some how she knew he'd be standing there. Pushing open the window, she shooed the bird away and looked down. "What'd you want, Damon?" She thought that maybe Damon was testing her.
